A Celebration of Lakes, Loons and Love
Friends of the Seney National Wildlife Refuge is hosting an exciting event on Friday, August 11, 2023 at the Erickson Center for the Arts in Curtis, Michigan. Loonapalooza is an evening of celebration of Seney National Wildlife Refuge’s world-famous Common Loons, including the world-famous pair ABJ & FE. The evening includes a reception for Friends of SNWR members and invited guests at 5:30 pm. Members and guests will enjoy music, student art and photo exhibits, and can participate in silent and live auctions and raffles. The reception includes complimentary hors d’oeuvres and soft drinks. Specially labeled wine and beer will be available for purchase at the event.
A public presentation with speakers from SNWR, Common Coast Research and Conservation, and Michigan DNR will follow the members-only reception at 6:30pm. Speakers will share their efforts to monitor and protect Common Loons in the Upper Peninsula and Northern Lower Peninsula and the ecological systems upon which they depend.
The Friends of Seney National Wildlife Refuge is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) organization and a proud partner of the Seney National Wildlife Refuge. Our purpose in hosting Loonapalooza is to support the refuge and its mission by raising public awareness and attracting the resources needed to conserve and protect the iconic species that inhabit the refuge. Proceeds from the silent and live auctions and raffle will support educational, research, and conservation programs on the Seney Refuge.
